Arranging a funeral

What to expect in your arrangement

A guide to help you feel prepared for your arrangement

Making informed choices is the key to ensuring the funeral experience is helpful for you and your family.

The first step is ensuring you take a few moments to prepare for your meeting with your Funeral Arranger. This meeting may take up to 2 hours.

The following legalities will be used for Births, Deaths & Marriages. Bringing a copy of their birth and marriage certificates may assist, but isn’t essential.

• Full name, date and place of birth, pension type & occupation

• Parent’s details; full names, inclusive Maiden name & occupation

• Marriages; date & location, spouse details, & age at marriage

• Children; full names, dates of birth & genders.

• Please also bring the clothing you wish for them to be dressed in if you have not already provided this.

Things to consider before your meeting

• When and where you would like the service

• What type of service you wish; a celebration of life, religious, a very simple service or no service at all.

• Would your loved one prefer burial or cremation

• Would you or family like to spend time with your loved one?

• Ways you may wish to personalise the service

• Is there a budget to observe? An average funeral is $8,500
