Allan PETTIGREW

29 August 1931 – 29 March 2020
88 Wonderful Years

With much love, admiration and respect we honour a remarkable man.

Allan Pettigrew was our dad, our pa, our brother but he was so much moreā€¦

He was a much loved and respected member of the Wallsend community, he was a successful businessman and Allan was a visionary.

He was a giver not a taker. He was honest and loyal. He was a good man.

For our family & friends who cannot share this time with us, we invite you to watch Allan’s service below.

Allan Pettigrew was a devoted family man. He loved his wife, Sylma and he took pride in the achievements of his family. Allan enjoyed the simple things in life, finding contentment and joy in his garden.

He was a much loved, and respected member of the Wallsend community. He was honest and loyal, putting the needs of others before his own. He achieved much in his 88 years and yet, he always spoke humbly of those achievements.

Allan was generous to those in his employment, treating them more as friends than staff. He fostered a culture of respect, care and trust and they, in return, honoured him with their loyalty and gratitude.

Farewell My Friends
– Gitanjali Ghei

It was beautiful as long as it lasted, the journey of my life. I have no regrets whatsoever, save the pain I’ll leave behind. Those dear hearts who love and care.

And the strings pulling at the heart and soul. The strong arms that help me up when my own strength let me down. At every turning of my life I came across good friends, friends who stood by me.

Even when the time raced me by. Farewell, farewell, my friends I smile and bid you goodbye. No, shed no tears for I need them not, all I need is your smile.

If you feel sad, do think of me. For that’s what I’ll like.
When you live in the hearts of those you love, remember then you never die.

And, just at the moment when someone says, “There, he is gone,” there are other eyes watching his coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, “Here he comes!”
